School Health Volunteer Program


Volunteer school nurses assist greatly in supplementing the existing services of the paid school nursing staff. Typical duties include:

. Assist students with medications

. Provide first aid

. Provide health education classes

. Assist with screenings for vision, hearing, scoliosis, and growth and
  development

. Assist with the development of nursing care plans for students with
  chronic health problems

Volunteer school nurses are offered free CEU's and other training, Liability and Workers Compensation coverage, and when eligible, licensure renewal fee waiver.

Requirements:
RN, ARNP or LPN with an active, unencumbered Florida nursing license and successful completion of background screenings. Retired nurses who do not hold active Florida nursing licenses may apply for a Retired Volunteer Nurse certificate.
